DESCRIPTION:A sounding birthday present for the KKL Luzern! \nThe KKL Luzern with its world-famous concert hall is celebrating its 25th birthday. It was ceremoniously opened on September 16 and 17\, 1998 – a cultural beacon in the middle of Lucerne\, an architectural marvel right on Lake Lucerne. “That was pure adventure and a real pioneering work\,” said star architect Jean Nouvel in retrospect. And yes\, celebrations should be celebrated as they fall: On its birthday\, the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra\, the orchestra in residence at the KKL Lucerne\, will present “its” concert hall with a birthday concert. It will last forty minutes – and admission is free. Surprises can be expected\, but we won’t reveal them here yet … However\, under the direction of chief conductor Michael Sanderling\, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s “Italian” Symphony will be played\, perhaps the most popular work of the composer\, who knew and loved Lucerne not only from hearsay\, but from his own experience – and that since he first came to the city of lights at the age of thirteen. He painted various views of the city with his own hands and also played the organ in the Hofkirche. So look forward to Mendelssohn in the KKL Luzern!
