DESCRIPTION:It was a sensation\, and not only in his native South Korea: In 2015\, Seong-Jin Cho won the renowned International Chopin Competition in Warsaw. Since then\, he has been admired and celebrated worldwide as one of the greatest classical music stars – a hype beyond compare. And rightly so: someone who gets by without grand gestures\, but who coolly transfers his eminent musical energy to the white and black keys. In the meantime – if one is to believe the corresponding surveys – he has advanced to become the most popular pianist. In his home country he even enjoys the status of a pop star. With the live recordings from the Chopin Competition\, he even made it to No. 1 in the South Korean pop charts with millions of CD albums sold. And with each new album he proves his rank as a singular piano artist anew. When asked where he gets the incredible energy that is immediately palpable in each of his interpretations\, he has a succinct answer: “I’m just young.” So one wishes him to remain young in his piano playing for a long time to come.
