Biography

Inès Morin has been a member of the Zurich Chamber Orchestra since September 2017 and will lead the second violins in the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester from January 2022.

Inès Morin was born in Lyon, France in 1993 and received her first violin lessons at the age of four. She studied at Basel Academy of Music with Raphaël Oleg, at Zurich University of the Arts with Nora Chastain and at the Lucerne School of Music with Igor Karsko, where she was awarded a distinction for her Master’s degree in solo performance, as in Zurich.

She attended masterclasses with professors including Mi-Kyung Lee, Stephan Picard, Gyula Stuller, Ferenc Rados, Hagai Shaham and the Talich Quartet.

She is the winner of the 2019 Edwin Fischer Competition and the 2020 Schenk Foundation Competition. As a soloist, she performed with the Festival Strings Lucerne at the KKL in 2020, and with Argovia Philharmonic, the Junge Zürcher Harmoniker and the Stadtorchester Zug in 2021.

Inès Morin plays as a substitute in various orchestras, including the Basel Symphony Orchestra, St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra, Zurich Opera, Musikkollegium Winterthur, Camerata Zurich, Festival Strings Lucerne and Gstaad Festival Orchestra.

Besides orchestral playing, she is a passionate chamber musician and plays in several ensembles.
