Akane Sakai

Debut at Luzerner Sinfonieorchester: JAN 20st 2024

Akane Sakai was born in Nagoya (Japan) and studied at the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo and at the Lemmensinstituut in Belgium with Midori Miura, Alan Weiss, Lilya Zilberstein and Pavel Gililov.

Akane Sakai is a prizewinner of the Japanese Ministry of Culture’s “Young Artist Development” programme and has performed with well-known orchestras such as Kremerata Baltica, Sinfonia Varsovia, Orchestra della Svizzera italiana and Tokyo Symphony Orchestra.

She is a passionate chamber musician, performing alongside the likes of Martha Argerich, Gidon Kremer, Evgeni Bozhanov and Akiko Suwanai. Since 2018 she has been the artistic planner of the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra’s Martha Argerich Festival.
