Orchestra Academy

Our young talents

Experience the daily life of professionals

The aim of the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester Academy is to give future generations of musicians an insight into the professional workings of a symphony orchestra.

The aim of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra Academy is to give future generations of musicians an insight into the professional operation of a symphony orchestra.

The Luzerner Sinfonieorchester is both a resident orchestra at the KKL Lucerne as a concert orchestra and an opera orchestra at the Luzerner Theater. The multi-faceted programme of our institution offers highly talented young musicians from Switzerland and abroad the opportunity to gain valuable experience for their future careers.

To this end, the academy students are actively involved in the orchestra’s activities and take part in symphony concerts, tours, CD productions and opera productions at the Luzerern Theater.

In regular individual lessons, the academy members receive targeted preparation and support for these tasks from their mentors, the orchestra’s section leaders and soloists. In addition, the focus is on joint chamber music, preparation for auditions, mental aspects and the joint development of mediation projects. This systematically strengthens not only the musical but also the personal skills of the participants. In a chamber music concert organised by the academy participants themselves, the skills acquired can be presented to the public in a professional setting at the end of the season.

We see the general promotion of talent and the promotion of the international reputation of the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester as further aims of the academy. Last but not least, the academy members will ideally also become future ambassadors for our institution and possibly future employees.
