Andrea Burger
Born in 1990 in Switzerland, Andrea Burger is a highly sought-after violist and passionate chamber musician.
She studied with Nobuko Imai and Thomas Riebl, whose mentorship played a key role in shaping her artistic voice. Further inspiration came from working with renowned musicians such as Lawrence Power, Ferenc Rados, and the Alban Berg Quartet.
In 2015, she gained international recognition by winning the prestigious Tokyo International Viola Competition and joined the acclaimed Notos Quartet the same year. With the ensemble, she performs regularly at major festivals across Europe, Asia, and the United States.
Andrea plays both a modern viola by Bernd Hiller and a historical English instrument from around 1720, along with a bow by Eugène Sartory – the latter two generously on loan from private collections.
