Lars Corijn
Debut at Luzerner Sinfonieorchester on November 17, 2025
Lars Corijn (1996) is a Belgian conductor and graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp. He initially worked as a tenor with Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, La Monnaie, and the Flemish Radio Choir before fully dedicating himself to conducting. He won second prize at the WMC International Conductors Contest 2022 and refined his craft through masterclasses with Mark Heron, Clark Rundell, Josep Vila i Casañas, and Vladimir Kiradjiev.
In 2022, he co-founded the Mahler Student Festival Orchestra, connecting young musicians across Europe with monumental repertoire like Mahler, Bruckner, Strauss and Beethoven. In 2023-24, he was assistant conductor of the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège. In 2025, Lars was a semi-finalist at the International Opera Conducting Competition of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie Liège and is one of the 24 competitors at the Concours de Genève.
What sets Lars apart is his deep commitment to connection — between musicians, audiences, and the wider community. He sees conducting not as control, but as trust and shared exploration, inspiring musicians to go beyond playing notes and to uncover the emotional core of the music.
