Mauro Mariani

Debut at Luzerner Sinfonieorchester on November 17, 2025

Mauro Mariani (Italy & Switzerland) is the winner of the IV Almeria International Conducting Competition and the J. Conlon Conductor Prize at the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado, where he was invited for three summers as a Conducting Fellow.

He is currently the Music Director of the Orchestre Universitaire de Strasbourg, with whom he conducted the French premiere of Dora Pejačević’s Symphony. He studied with NicolásPasquet in Weimar, Guido Schiefen in Lucerne, and in masterclasses with S. Gubaidulina, R. Muti, R. Fleming, T. Koopman, H. Schiff, J. Panula.

Selected from hundreds of applicants, he was invited by P. Järvi to his Conductor’s Academy (Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich), by M. Gražinytė-Tyla, J. van Zweden and J Schlaefli to the Gstaad Conducting Academy, by D. Gatti to the Accademia Chigiana, by P. Eötvös to the European Creative Academy (Ensemble Ars Nova), by C. Măcelaru to the Cabrillo Festival in California as a Conducting Fellow.

In the current season, he takes over as Music Director of the Junge Kammerphilharmonie Berlin, conducts Verdi’s La traviata with the Niederrheinische Sinfoniker at the TheaterKrefeld-Mönchengladbach, and returns to orchestras such as the Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Bari, and the Filarmonica Pitesti.
