Petar Naydenov
Biography
Since 2005 Petar Naydenov has held the position of principal double bass in the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester. Alongside his work as an orchestral musician, he teaches at Zurich University of the Arts.
Petar Naydenov is a Bulgarian double bassist with an international career as both a soloist and chamber musician. While still a student of Prof. Todor Toshev at the National Academy of Music in Sofia, he was appointed Principal Double Bass of the Chamber Orchestra of Bulgarian National Radio.
After graduating, he continued his studies in Germany with Prof. Wolfgang Gรผttler, a member of the Berlin Philharmonic.
As a principal double bassist, Petar Naydenov has performed on many leading concert stages across Europe, Asia and the Americas. Chamber music is another important focus of his artistic work. His musical partners include Mstislav Rostropovich, Maxim Vengerov, Mischa Maisky, Vadim Gluzman, Isabelle Faust, Albena Danailova, Rainer Honeck, Wilfried Strehle, Fazฤฑl Say and Patricia Kopatchinskaja, among many other distinguished artists.
Petar Naydenov is currently Principal Double Bass of the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester and a faculty member at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). He is also the founder and Artistic Director of the Allegra Festival and Allegra Academy.
