Regula Schneider
Biography
Regula Schneider studied clarinet at the Konservatorium Zurich (Teaching and Orchestral diplomas with Hansjürg Leuthold) and at the Basel Academy of Music (Soloist Diploma with Hans Rudolf Stalder). Further training followed in Aspen (USA) and in Paris. Today she can be frequently heard as a chamber musician.
Regula Schneider sees herself as a musical bridge between classical music and jazz, between singing and clarinet, and between written music and improvisation. She completed her instrumental studies with a soloist diploma in clarinet and has received awards from various institutions and competitions. Since 1990, Regula Schneider has been Assistant Solo Clarinet of the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester.
Following her classical vocal training, she went on to study jazz singing at Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA, where she also studied composition, arranging and improvisation.
Regula Schneider is passionate about teaching children, young people and adults in singing, jazz combos, clarinet and chamber music. As co-founder of the Boys Choir Lucerne, she regularly composes and arranges music for the young singers, who have since achieved international success. In 2025, she prepared one of the casts of the Three Boys in Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” at Luzerner Theater.
She also regularly performs as the director of “Chestnut Voices”, a women’s jazz ensemble. Her diverse activities are rounded off by her work as a juror and expert at regional, cantonal and national level.
