Robin Ticciati

Debut with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra: January 14, 2026

The trained violinist, pianist, and percussionist Robin Ticciati discovered his passion for conducting at the age of 15 while a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. Early on, he was mentored by Sir Colin Davis and Sir Simon Rattle, and his international career quickly gained momentum: in 2005 he made his debut as the youngest conductor in the history of Milan’s La Scala with the Filarmonica della Scala. Just a year later, he conducted Mozart’s Il sogno di Scipione at the Salzburg Festival.

Since 2014, Robin Ticciati has been Music Director of the Glyndebourne Festival Opera. From 2017 to 2025, he served as Chief Conductor of the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, and from 2009 to 2018 he held the same position with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. At Glyndebourne, he has led highly acclaimed productions including La damnation de Faust, Pelléas et Mélisande, Der Rosenkavalier, Katja Kabanowa, and a Poulenc double bill (La voix humaine / Les Mamelles de Tirésias).

He is a regular guest with leading orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Budapest Festival Orchestra, and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. In recent years, he has also collaborated with the Vienna Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, Czech Philharmonic, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Orchestre National de France, Staatskapelle Dresden, and the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig. In the United States, he has conducted the Cleveland Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, among others.

His highly praised discography includes recordings of Berlioz with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra; Haydn, Schumann, Berlioz, and Brahms with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra; Dvořák, Bruckner, and Brahms with the Bamberg Symphony; and Bruckner, Debussy, Duruflé, Duparc, Fauré, Ravel, Rachmaninov, and Strauss with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin.

For his services to music, Robin Ticciati was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2019.
