Roman Borisov
Debut with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra on January 16, 2025
As the youngest participant, Roman Borisov won first prize at the Kissinger KlavierOlymp in October 2022. The jury wrote in its statement:
“[…] with his highly musical, intuitive yet structurally aware interpretations of works by Liebermann, Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Brahms, and Prokofiev […] he demonstrated an uncompromising artistic will and impressed with his natural and authentic stage presence.”
It was thanks to a sensitive, musically trained kindergarten teacher that Roman Borisov was introduced at the age of four to the legendary piano teacher Mary Lebenzon at the Novosibirsk Conservatory, who went on to guide him until 2020. From his earliest childhood competitions, he attracted attention and became a scholarship holder of the Spivakov Foundation.
After winning first prize at the Krainev Youth Competition in 2019 and performing in numerous concerts during the 2019/20 season — including appearances in Hamburg, Berlin, at the Klavier-Festival Ruhr, and at the Gstaad Festival — he decided to move to Berlin after completing his secondary education. In January 2022, he successfully began his studies at the Hanns Eisler School of Music with Prof. Eldar Nebolsin.
His concert engagements have already taken him to Nancy with the Orchestre de l’Opéra national de Lorraine under Vladimir Kiradjiev, to Reutlingen with the Württembergische Philharmonie under Ariane Matiakh, and to Vienna with the ORF Symphony Orchestra under Howard Griffiths. He has also performed solo recitals at the Philharmonie Essen, as well as in Bordeaux, Anglet, Zurich, and Bad Kissingen.
