The concert hall in the KKL Lucerne is internationally regarded as one of the most precise and tonally balanced halls of its kind. The KKL Lucerne was designed by architect Jean Nouvel, with acoustics created by renowned sound architect Russell Johnson. His approach: a hall capable of carrying both orchestral richness and the finest sonic nuances.
It is precisely here that the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra fulfils its role as resident orchestra. Year after year, it becomes clear how directly the architecture shapes the sound and how consistently interpretations unfold within the space. Claudio Abbado summed it up perfectly: ‘A great hall is an instrument. And a good instrument demands responsibility.’ This principle continues to define the collaboration between the KKL Lucerne and the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra to this day.
Restaurants and atmosphere – Lucide, Seebar, Le Piaf
The KKL Lucerne offers a wide range of gastronomic options for concert guests and visitors from across the entire region.
At Lucide — awarded by Gault Millau and led by head chef Maximilian Huber — modern cuisine meets a distinctive culinary signature. The offer is complemented by the Seebar, with its relaxed lakeside atmosphere, as well as Le Piaf, which brings a touch of French bistro culture to Lucerne. For the Symphony Dinner, the Panorama Foyer opens up its sweeping view of Lake Lucerne. In both summer and winter, formats such as the Eiszauber or the Beach Club further expand the culinary variety — light, open, and inviting.
A special service for concertgoers is the ability to reserve food and drinks in advance. Everything is then ready during the concert intermission — with no queues and no waiting time. Starting in the 26/27 season, this offer will be expanded with a complementary gourmet subscription, which can be assembled with similar flexibility to a concert subscription and will sustainably enhance the overall concert experience.
