Special Prize winner of the Rachmaninoff International Conducting Competition, Xiaobo Hu is the principal conductor of Kunming International Philharmonic, with which he has made strong impacts with Chinese premier of works by Janacek, Rautavaara and Franz Schmidt. He also works closely with composer and conductor Tan Dun, serving as his assistant conductor on several projects and performances since 2023.
Xiaobo was a student of Ari Rasilainen at Hochschule für Musik Würzburg and currently studies with Manuel Nawri at Hochschule für Musik Saarbrücken. He has conducted more than 20 orchestras across Germany, China, France, Finnland, Italy, Russia and etc.. He was guided by Riccardo Muti in Muti Italian Opera Academy, Paavo Järvi in the Conducting Academy with Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Sakari Oramo in Fiskars Music Festival and other esteemed conductors like Neeme Järvi, Cristian Măcelaru, Eivind Gullberg Jensen and Sascha Goetzel in other various music festivals and academies.
