Ada Koivukangas
Finnish violist Ada Koivukangas began her musical journey with the violin at the age of six at the West Helsinki Music Institute. In 2019 she discovered the beauty of the viola and has stayed on that road ever since.
In 2020, Ada began her Bachelor’s degree at the Sibelius Academy with Lilli Maijala and later she completed the degree with Annariina Jokela. During the academic year 2022–2023, Ada studied at the University of Music and Theater Munich in the class of Nils Mönkemeyer. In 2024, Ada started her Master’s degree at the Music Academy Basel under the guidance of Silvia Simionescu.
Ada was a finalist in the Oulu National Viola Competition in 2022 and got to play as a soloist with the Oulu Symphony Orchestra.
Ada has played with numerous orchestras, such as Finnish Radio Symphony orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta and Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra. Ada is also an active chamber musician. She plays in the ILOA String Quartet and they perform regularly in Finland and abroard. In 2025 Ada started as a member of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra.
