Bastian Berlinghof
Biography
Since the 2026/27 season, Bastian Berlinghof has been a member of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra as a low horn player. He previously gained extensive orchestral experience, including at the Opernhaus Zürich and with the Gstaad Menuhin Festival Orchestra.
Bastian Berlinghof grew up in Öflingen, Germany, and discovered his passion for the horn through his local wind band, where he remains an active member to this day.
From 2017 to 2022, he gained extensive orchestral experience with the Zurich Youth Symphony Orchestra. Concert tours with the ensemble took him to destinations including England, the Baltic states, Austria and South Korea.
In 2021, he began his Bachelor’s degree at Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), studying with Prof. Mischa Greull and Prof. Nigel Downing. From 2023, he performed with the Gstaad Menuhin Festival Orchestra, initially as an academy member and later as a low horn player. In 2024, he began his Master’s degree at ZHdK with Prof. Felix Dervaux.
Alongside his studies, Bastian Berlinghof was a member of the Orchestra Academy at Zurich Opera House from 2024 to 2026, gaining extensive experience in both opera and orchestral repertoire.
Since the 2026/27 season, Bastian Berlinghof has been a low horn player with the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester.
