Born and brought up in Sarnen, Beat Blättler received his first music lessons on the accordion, winning several prizes.
Born and brought up in Sarnen, Beat Blättler received his first music lessons on the accordion, winning several prizes. He completed his bassoon studies at the Lucerne School of Music with André Eichenberger, at the Karajan Academy in Berlin with Manfred Braun and the Freiburg University of Music with Klaus Schliesser.
From 1979-1981 he was a member of the symphony orchestra in Biel. He has conducted the Harmoniemusik Kerns in his spare time since 1981. He also regularly conducts Unterwalden Youth Wind Orchestra, various ensembles at the Lucerne School of Music, the Operettenbühne in Arth, and also soloists, choir and orchestra annually in Bolzano, South Tyrol. In 2000 he was appointed professor of bassoon and chamber music at the Lucerne School of Music.
