Daniel Seonggeun Kim is the first prize winner of the 12th Conducting Competition held in Leipzig and ist the music director of the Leipziger Universitätsorchester. He began his conducting study at the Franz Liszt University of Music Weimar in 2018, and is currently studying for his “Konzertexamen” at the same university under Prof. Nicolás Pasquet and Prof. Ekhart Wycik.
Daniel Seonggeun has worked with numerous professional orchestras such as MDR-Sinfonieorchester, Jenaer Philharmonie, Staatskapelle Weimar, Thüringen Philharmonic Gotha-Eisenach, and Anhalt Philharmonic Orchestra Dessau. Among others, he assisted GMD Markus Frank in Zemlinsky’s opera “Der König Kandaules” at the Anhalt Theatre in Dessau, and the chief conductor Dominik Beykirch in “Capuleti e i Montecchi” production at DNT Weimar.
From 2019 to 2023, he was the artistic director of the Collegium Musicum Weimar and cademic Orchestra Erfurt. He has been a scholarship holder of the “Forum Dirigieren” since 2023.
