Biography

From 2002-2003 she was concertmaster of the Aargau Symphony Orchestra, and played in the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra from 2003-2005. From 2005 on she joined the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester.

Violinist Denitza Kucera(-Kostova) was taught by Tatyana Krasteva at the Plovdiv Music School in Bulgaria, and went on to study at the Idylwild Arts Academy in California with Todor Pelev from 1991-1993, and at the Oberlin Conservatory with Taras Gabora from 1993-1997.

She has been awarded various prizes, played numerous recitals and recorded two CDs. In 1997 she won the Montgomery International Violin Fellowship Competition and was concertmaster of the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra. From 1998-2001 she continued her studies with Donald Weilerstein at the Cleveland Institute of Music, gaining a Master’s degree. She then held a post as professor of violin at Mercyhurst College in Erie before returning to Europe.

From 2002-2003 she was concertmaster of the Aargau Symphony Orchestra, and played in the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra from 2003-2005. Denitza Kucera has been a member of the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester since 2005. She is also a member of the Lucerne String Octet and founded the Vector Quartet in 2013.
