Dr Barbara Studer is a psychologist and neuroscientist with a PhD, and has taught and conducted research at the University of Bern. As a speaker, musician and science communicator, she shares sound knowledge about mental fitness and health, as well as practical strategies for strengthening them.
She is the founder and CEO of the multiple award-winning start-up Hirncoach, which offers scientifically based, holistic programmes for mental fitness and health for people of all ages. Hirncoach makes neuroscientific insights accessible and applicable in education, the world of work and healthcare practice.
After studying at the universities of Bern, Fribourg and Taipei, Barbara Studer completed her PhD in neuropsychology and went on to conduct postdoctoral research in cognitive neuroscience. She also established a specialist unit for learning and memory at the University of Bern, which she led for twelve years, before turning to applied intervention research and entrepreneurship with Hirncoach AG.
Barbara Studer is married and a mother of three. She was named “Digital Innovator of the Year 2024” and was listed by Focus x The Economist among the “30 People of Influence 2025”. Her first book, Hirnpower, was published in 2025.
