Biography

He studied in Lucerne with Lukas Christinat, graduating with a Master of Arts in Music – Orchestra in summer 2016.

Brought up up in Hauptwil (Thurgau), Elia Bolliger received his first French horn lessons at the age of six with Paul Trizsi and later with Ursula Petith.

He studied in Lucerne with Lukas Christinat, graduating with a Master of Arts in Music – Orchestra in summer 2016.

Another formative experience for Elia Bolliger was the two-year Orchestra Academy at Zurich Opera, where he played in the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons. There he also received training in chamber music and mental performance skills, and also enjoyed individual lessons with renowned orchestra members.

The Orchestra Academy was followed by temporary positions at  Zurich Opera (2017/18) and the Mannheim National Theatre Orchestra, which took him to Germany for the 2018/19 season.

As a substitute, Elia plays in prestigious orchestras such as the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and the Festival Strings Lucerne. He is also always a welcome guest with his former colleagues at Zurich Opera and the Mannheim National Theatre Orchestra. Since 2018, he has toured regularly in Asia with the Tongyeong Festival Orchestra (South Korea).
