Elia Bolliger

Biography

Elia Bolliger grew up in Hauptwil, TG, and received his first French horn lessons at the age of six from Paul Trizsi and later from Ursula Petith. He studied in Lucerne under Lukas Christinat. In the summer of 2016, he successfully completed his Master of Arts in Music โ€“ Orchestra.

Following formative lessons with Paul Trizsi, Ursula Petith and Christian Holenstein, as well as completing his studies with Lukas Christinat in 2016, the two-year Orchestra Academy at Zurich Opera House became an important stage in Elia Bolligerโ€™s musical development. During the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons, he was a member of the academy, gaining intensive orchestral and chamber music experience as well as training in performance and mental preparation, alongside individual tuition from members of the orchestra.

This was followed by fixed-term positions at Zurich Opera House in the 2017/18 season and with the National Theatre Orchestra Mannheim in the 2018/19 season. During this period, Elia Bolliger also performed regularly with the Tongyeong Festival Orchestra. As principal horn, these engagements took him several times to South Korea, as well as to Japan and Hong Kong.

Elia Bolliger regularly appears as a guest musician with renowned orchestras including the Tonhalle-Orchester Zรผrich and Festival Strings Lucerne. Since 2023, he has also been Principal Horn of the argovia philharmonic.
