Janna Mohr

Biography

Janna Mohr is a Swiss puppeteer, actress, director, and theater educator. She was born in Zurich and grew up there in a family of musicians. After graduating from high school and spending a year abroad in Costa Rica, she trained in physical theater at the ร‰cole Lassaad in Brussels, was a recipient of the Migros Kulturprozent award, co-founded the theater company โ€œausartungโ€ with fellow students, and completed an internship at the Center for Theater of the Oppressed in Rio de Janeiro. She worked as a theater educator and assistant director at the Junges Schauspielhaus Zรผrich, the Theater im Marienbad in Freiburg, and in the independent theater scene both in Switzerland and abroad.

From 2018 to 2022, she studied contemporary puppetry at the HfS Ernst Busch in Berlin and was a scholarship recipient of the German National Academic Foundation. As a freelance puppeteer, she has performed, among other venues, at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona under the direction of William Kentridge and at the Zurich Opera House in a production by Kai Anne Schuhmacher.

Since the 2022โ€“23 season, Janna Mohr has been part of the company at TOBS! (Theater Orchester Biel Solothurn) and is co-director of the Young Theatre Solothurn.
