Jeremy Bager

Jeremy Bager was a member of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester and the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra before joining the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig Academy from 2019 to 2022. From 2023 to 2025, he was Principal Bassoon of the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne. Since 2026, he has been Assistant Principal Bassoon of the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester.

He is regularly invited to perform as Principal Bassoon with renowned ensembles including Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Royal Opera House London, Sinfonieorchester Basel, Gürzenich-Orchester Köln, Festival Strings Lucerne, Kammerorchester Basel and the opera orchestras in Frankfurt and Rome. His concert appearances have taken him from Singapore to Boston and to major concert halls across Europe, working with conductors such as Andris Nelsons, Daniel Harding, Vladimir Jurowski, Tugan Sokhiev and Herbert Blomstedt.

A passionate chamber musician, Jeremy Bager is a member of the woodwind quintet Ensemble Astera. With the ensemble, he won first prize at the Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition in Copenhagen in 2023, as well as the special prize for the best interpretation of the commissioned work. Ensemble Astera has been Artist in Residence at the Fondation Singer-Polignac in Paris since 2023 and released its debut album in 2025.

Jeremy Bager also appears regularly at international festivals, including in the United Kingdom, Verbier and Davos, where he was invited as a Young Artist in 2022. He also performs frequently in recital with his brother, pianist Frederic Bager, and as a soloist with various Swiss orchestras.
