John Storgårds

Finnish conductor and violinist John Storgårds (born 1963 in Helsinki) serves as Chief Conductor of the Lapland Chamber Orchestra and Principal Guest Conductor of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. He studied violin with Esther Rautio and conducting with Jorma Panula and Eri Klas. Renowned for his interpretations of Nordic repertoire, he has premiered numerous works by composers such as Kalevi Aho and Per Nørgård. Storgårds appears regularly with the Munich Philharmonic, WDR Symphony Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic and Vienna Symphony Orchestra.
