Jonas Erni, born in Neuenkirch, Lucern, completed his school education in Reussbühl in 1994. Since 2015 he is principal second violin and still very much connected to his hometown.
Jonas Erni, born in Neuenkirch, Lucerne in 1974, completed his school education in Reussbühl in 1994. In 1995 he was awarded a Teaching Diploma with distinction under Karen Turpie at the Konservatorium Schaffhausen.
He went on to study with Professor Igor Ozim at Bern University of the Arts, attaining a Concert Diploma with distinction in 1999. From 1999 to 2016 he played in the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande as deputy principal. He has also played as concertmaster in the Swiss Youth Symphony Orchestra (1997-99), Camerata Schweiz (since 1999) and Sinfonietta Schaffhausen (since 2006).
He has received various scholarships from organisations including Orpheus Concerts, the Migros-Genossenschaftsbund, the Hans Schäuble Foundation, the Kiefer-Hablitzel Foundation and the Schweizerischer Tonkünstlerverein. Chamber music and solo performances complete his musical profile.
