Lawrence Power

British violist Lawrence Power is among the leading soloists of his instrument and is an active advocate for new music. Through his Viola Commissioning Circle he has commissioned works by composers including Thomas Adès, Mark Simpson and Cassandra Miller; during the pandemic he launched the Lockdown Commissions and founded the film production company Âme. In the 2025/26 season Power appears with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Staatskapelle Dresden and Scottish Chamber Orchestra and collaborates in recitals and chamber music with partners such as Brett Dean, Sir Simon Rattle and the Nash Ensemble. He teaches at the Guildhall School and gives masterclasses worldwide.
