Biografie

Lukas Christinat is an award winner of the Edwin Fischer Memorial Prize and the Friedel Wald Foundation. Concerts and masterclasses have taken him across Europe, to the USA, Japan, China and South America. As a soloist he has performed with the Baden-Baden Symphony Orchestra, the Basel Symphony Orchestra and the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester, among others.

Born and brought up in Burgdorf, Canton Bern, Lukas Christinat studied at the Lucerne School of Music with Francesco Raselli and Jakob Hefti, and at the Folkwang Music Academy in Essen with Hermann Baumann. In 1991 he gained his Soloist Diploma with distinction.

As a soloist he has performed with the Baden-Baden Symphony Orchestra, the Basel Symphony Orchestra and the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester, among others.

He is a member of the Swiss Brass Consort and often performs chamber music with organist Wolfgang Sieber. His musical career has included numerous radio and CD recordings. In the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester he is a member of the orchestra committee and responsible for auditions and tours.

Lukas Christinat is artistic director of the International Horn Festival in Sarnen, and was appointed professor of horn and chamber music at the Lucerne School of Music in 2000.
