Biography

After graduating as an electrical engineer, Randy Barboza decided to concentrate solely on music. Under Marc-Antoine Bonanomi, he graduated from the Haute Ecole de Musique in Lausanne with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree as an orchestral musician, both with the first prize of excellence.

Randy Barboza began his musical training at the age of seven in “El Sistema” in Venezuela. After a few years playing the violin, he began the double bass at the age of ten.

Just four months later, he gained his first orchestral experience in the world-famous Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar. There he played regularly under the direction of famous conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Simon Rattle, Giuseppe Sinopoli and Claudio Abbado. After graduating as an electrical engineer, Randy Barboza decided to concentrate solely on music. Under Marc-Antoine Bonanomi, he graduated from the Haute Ecole de Musique in Lausanne with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree as an orchestral musician, both with the first prize of excellence.

After completing his studies, he was immediately offered the position of deputy principal double bass in the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester in 2013. In addition, Randy Barboza performs with orchestras in Switzerland, France, Sweden and Spain.
