Biographie

Ronja Macholdt was born in Darmstadt in 1999 and initially took lessons with Prof. Paul Dahme at the Frankfurt Musikhochschule before beginning her Bachelor’s studies with Prof. Christina Fassbender at the Berlin University of the Arts. From 2020 to 2022, she played as an academy member in the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Since April 2022 she is playing on her position as principal flute of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra.

The flutist received important musical impulses at the International Music Academy Liechtenstein with Philippe Bernold, as well as from Henrik Wiese, Philippe Boucly, Natalie Schwaabe and Ivanna Ternay. She is also a scholarship holder of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes, the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben and, with her Berlin Wind Quintet, of “Yehudi Menuhin – LMN Berlin”.

Ronja Macholdt has won prizes at numerous competitions, including the Dutch International Flute Competition, the International Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition Rome, the Carl Schroeder Competition and the Beethoven Bonnensis Competition.

She gained orchestral experience in the Verbier Festival Orchestra, the Zermatt Festival Orchestra, Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, Bundesjugendorchester and as a guest in the Munich Chamber Orchestra, Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under Sir Simon Rattle.
