Biography

From an early age, Salomo Schweizer performed as a soloist and solo oboist with pioneering orchestras such as the Staatsorchester Hamburg, the Orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, the Staatsoper Hannover, the Chamber Orchestra Munich and the Festival Strings Lucerne.

Born in Lucerne in 1993, he began his musical career as a choirboy in the Lucerne Kantorei before becoming a junior student in Kurt Meier’s oboe class at the Lucerne School of Music at the age of 14. From 2013 he continued his studies at the Zurich University of the Arts with Simon Fuchs and Martin Frutiger, as well as in Berlin with Dominik Wollenweber and most recently at the Haute Ecole de Musique in Lausanne with Prof. Jean Louis Capezzali. In international competitions the young artist won numerous awards, including 1st prize with distinction at the Swiss Youth Music Competition 2012, 1st prize at the international oboe competition “Luca Figaroli” 2012 and the English horn prize at the international oboe competition “The Muri Competition” 2016.

After a year as principal oboist in the Verbier Festival Orchestra, Salomo Schweizer joined the Staatsorchester Braunschweig as principal oboist in 2017/18, where he has since performed in numerous solo concerts and was awarded the Förderpreis der Staatstheaterfreunde in 2018. In August 2021 Salomo Schweizer gave his debut recital at the Lucerne Festival.
