
Simon Blatter
Simon Blatter (*1995, Switzerland) received his first trumpet lessons from Amadé Schnyder and Tobias Salzgeber at the Allgemeine Musikschule Oberwallis. After completing his music baccalaureate, he became a junior student at the Zurich Zurich University of the Arts and from then on received lessons from Corrado Bossard.
From 2017, Simon studied at the Basel University of Music in the trumpet class of Prof. Klaus Schuhwerk. After successfully completing his Bachelor’s degree, he continued his studies in the Master’s program in the same class and graduated in June 2022 also with distinction. In 2023, Simon was awarded the Cultural Promotion Prize of his prize from his home canton of Valais.
Simon gained his first orchestral experience in international youth orchestras such as the German-Scandinavian Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, the Young North German Philharmonic Orchestra and the Swiss Youth Symphony Orchestra. He is also an Alumni of the renowned Aspen Music Festival (Colorado/USA).
Between 2019-2021, Simon was a member of the Orchestra Academy of the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester. He was then a scholarship holder of the Paul Hindemith Orchestra Academy of the Opera and Museum Orchestra of the Frankfurt am Main Opera (2021-2022). In the 2022/2023 season, Simon was principal trumpet of the Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester (DK) and as deputy principal trumpet of the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra (FIN). This was followed by a further temporary contract as deputy principal trumpet with the Nuremberg State Philharmonic Orchestra for the 2023/2024 season.
Further engagements have taken him to the Oslo Philharmonic, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz and the Hessischer Rundfunk Symphony Orchestra.
For the 2024/2025 season, Simon will return to the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester as deputy principal trumpet.
