Biography

While playing at the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester, Ulrich Poschner also plays in different chamber music ensembles.

Born in Munich, Ulrich Poschner began playing the violin at the age of five. He studied in Vienna with Günter Pichler and at Bern University of the Arts with Igor Ozim.

In Vienna, Ulrich Poschner was awarded a unanimous distinction for his Artistic Diploma. He completed his studies in Bern in 2003 on the Soloist course. With fellow students in Bern, Ulrich Poschner also founded the Anarion piano trio which went on to win the Jeunesses Musicales Geraldine Whittaker Competition. At festivals all over the world he joins famous musicians such as Julia Fischer, Michael Sanderling and Yakov Kreizberg to perform in various chamber music ensembles.

As concertmaster of several chamber and symphony orchestras, he has worked with conductors including Zubin Mehta, Sir Colin Davies, Lorin Maazel and Mstislav Rostropovich. As concertmaster of the Basel Chamber Orchestra, he received formative inspiration from Christopher Hogwood and Giovanni Antonini, especially in the field of baroque and classical performance practice.

Ulrich Poschner has played first violin in the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester since 2005. In early 2008 he was also appointed first concertmaster of the Argovia Philharmonic. He lives out his passion for film music as concertmaster of the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra in Lucerne.
