Chamber Music

Event Description

The sixth Chamber Music Matinee of the season brings together Baroque drive, Classical elegance, tango-infused lyricism and the sharp wit of 20th-century music. Musicians of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra present a varied programme featuring works by Johann Sebastian Bach, W. A. Mozart, Astor Piazzolla and Dmitri Shostakovich.

At the heart of the programme are imaginative arrangements and unusual instrumental combinations: Bach’s concerto in D minor appears in a version for marimba and strings, while Piazzolla’s Serie del Ángel brings together trombone and string quintet. Mozart’s Flute Quartet provides a luminous contrast, before Shostakovich brings the matinee to an energetic close.

This matinée is traditionally performed by the academy members of the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester. They will be announced at the beginning of the 2025/26 season.
