Biography

Andrey gained orchestral experience with MusicAeterna, the Bern Symphony Orchestra and the Sinfonietta de Lausanne. In addition to recitals, he has performed as a soloist with the Tokyo Philharmonic, the Russian State Symphony Orchestra, the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester and the Russian National Orchestra.

Andrey Cholokyan, born in Moscow in 1992, studied at the Gnessin School in Moscow with Ivan Pushechnikov, at the Haute Ecole de Musique in Lausanne  with Jean-Louis Capezzali and at the Lucerne School of Music with Ivan Podyomov.

He has enjoyed success in many international competitions including the Mravinsky International Oboe Competition (2nd prize, St. Petersburg, Russia), Swiss National Competition (1st prize, Riddes, Switzerland) International Moscow Oboe Competition (1st prize, Moscow, Russia), and Sony International Oboe Competition (3rd prize, Tokyo, Japan).
