The Aris Quartet has been at home on international stages for over a decade. With its unmistakable sound language, it has long been among the top ranks of chamber music.
The musicians’ performance venues include halls such as London’s Wigmore Hall, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Philharmonie de Paris and the Konzerthaus in Vienna. The Aris Quartet is frequently in demand as a partner for soloists including Christiane Karg, Daniel Müller-Schott, Eckart Runge, Kit Armstrong, William Youn and Nils Mönkemeyer.
The ensemble also devotes itself to cross-genre projects, such as with jazz pianist Omer Klein. From the beginning, the musicians have also paid special attention to contemporary music. Composers such as Gerald Resch, Misato Mochizuki and Pierre-Dominique Ponnelle entrust the quartet with premieres of their works.
Founded in Frankfurt am Main in 2009, the Aris Quartett, whose most important mentors include Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartett), continues to play with an unchanged lineup to this day.
The ensemble’s success is no coincidence: with numerous first prizes at renowned competitions, the Aris Quartet quickly achieves its international breakthrough. The musicians have also been honored as “ECHO Rising Stars” by the European Concert Hall Organization, are among the BBC’s “New Generation Artists” and won no less than five prizes at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich.
In addition to regular appearances on radio and TV, the Aris Quartet has already released six CD productions, which have been highly acclaimed by the specialist press. The most recent recording, featuring works by Resch and Beethoven, will be released by GENUIN Classics in May 2021.
