Biography

Fióna Kraege grew up in French-speaking Switzerland and comes from an Irish-Swiss family.

She began playing the violin at the age of five and entered the Classes Professionnelles at the Lausanne Conservatoire aged nine. In 1998 she obtained a Teaching Diploma with Pierre Amoyal, followed in 2002 by a Concert Diploma and studies with Gyula Stuller and Tibor Varga. On completing her school education, she began studying with Professor Zakhar Bron in Zurich in 2003, gaining a Concert Diploma with distinction in 2006, and a Soloist Diploma in 2008. Fióna Kraege gave her first solo concert at the age of ten. Since then she has performed frequently as a soloist and chamber musician in Switzerland and abroad. From 2008 to 2020 she was the second concertmaster of the Bern Symphony Orchestra, and since 2020 has held the same position with the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester.
