Biography

Katrin Burger frequently performs chamber music, especially in quartets, and has taken quartet lessons with Walter Levin, Rainer Schmidt, Sebastian Hamann, the Bennewitz and Zemlinsky Quartets and the Scharoun Ensemble Berlin.

Katrin Burger studied in Basel with Christoph Schiller and in Lucerne with Isabel Charisius. She frequently performs chamber music, especially in quartets, and has taken quartet lessons with Walter Levin, Rainer Schmidt, Sebastian Hamann, the Bennewitz and Zemlinsky Quartets and the Scharoun Ensemble Berlin.

She was awarded a scholarship from the Villa Musica, Mainz and gained orchestral experience in the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich as an apprentice and substitute, and on trial in the London Symphony Orchestra. Since 2010 she has been a member of the Festival Strings Lucerne, which is her principal activity outside of the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester.

Katrin Burger has been a member of the orchestra committee since 2013 and its co-president since 2015.
