Laura Mota Pello

Spanish pianist Laura Mota Pello was born in Oviedo in 2003. She began her piano studies at the age of six at the Escuela de Música Viva Tchaikovsky in Gijón with Natalia Mazoun. From 2012 to 2018, she continued her studies with Francisco Jaime Pantín at the Oviedo Conservatory. She is currently studying at Musik-Akademie Basel with Claudio Martínez Mehner and regularly takes lessons with Anton Kernjak.

Laura Mota Pello has won numerous first prizes at various national and international competitions, including the Antón García Abril International Piano Competition in 2011 and the Santa Cecilia International Piano Competition organised by the Don Juan de Borbón Foundation in the same year, the Ciutat de Carlet and María Herrero International Piano Competitions, both in 2015, and the Ciudad de Cuenca National Competition for Young Performers in 2016. For the best performance of Spanish music, the young pianist was awarded the special Perfecto García Chornet prize in 2015, and in 2017 she was a finalist at the Aarhus International Piano Competition. Most recently, she won the first prize at Rahn Musikpreis 2024 competition for piano in Zurich.

As a soloist, Laura Mota Pello has given various concerts in Spain, where she has performed at the Teatro Jovellanos, Teatro Filarmónica, Oviedo Auditorium, Leon Auditorium, the Noches en los Jardines del Real Alcázar music festival, the Fundación Eutherpe and the Shigeru Kawai Centre, among others. In Germany, she has performed at Schloss Reinbek at the invitation of the Chopin Society Hamburg and Sachsenwald and in Mexico City at the XXII International Piano Festival En Blanco y Negro at the Auditorio Blas Galindo. She has participated in numerous international festivals, such as the ClaviCologne International Piano Festival in Hamburg in 2019, the Tel-Hai International Piano Master Classes in Israel in 2019, 2020 and 2022, the Palazzo Ricci European Academy of Music and Performing Arts Montepulciano in Italy in 2019 and 2021, the Forum Musikae in Valencia in 2020, the Airas Nunes Aula de Cámara in Santiago de Compostela in 2021, and others. As a chamber musician, she performed at the Sommerliche Musiktage Hitzacker in Germany in 2022 with Javier Comesaña and Norberto López.

Laura Mota Pello has also performed as a soloist with the Oviedo Filarmonía, the Joven Orquesta Leonesa, the Hamburg Camerata and others.

She has received lessons from masters such as Elisabeth Leonskaja, Nina Tichman, Josep Maria Colom, Ronald Brautigam, Robert Levin, Robert MacDonald, Vera Vaidman, Eldar Nebolsin, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Douglas Humphreys and András Kemenes.
