Guest engagements have taken him to the Volksoper Wien as well as to the theaters in Erfurt, Prague, Košice and Ostrava. Jan Martiník works with renowned conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Fabio Luisi and Zubin Mehta. He has appeared as a soloist with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, and has sung at the BBC Proms, Prague’s Rudolfinum, and the Musikverein in Vienna and Graz. His concert repertoire includes Bach’s Passions, Mozart’s and Dvořák’s Requiem settings, Dvořák’s “Te Deum” and Haydn’s “The Creation”. He was critically acclaimed for his interpretation of the bass part in Verdi’s “Messa da Requiem” under Fabio Luisi. He also enjoyed international success with Dvořák’s “Biblical Songs,” which he recorded in 2017 with the Czech Philharmonic under Jiří Bělohlávek.

Bass Jan Martiník completed his vocal studies with Eliška Pappová at the University of Ostrava. He is a laureate of national and international competitions, including song prize winner at “Singer of the World” 2009 in Cardiff. From 2008 to 2011 he was an ensemble member of the Komische Oper Berlin. Since the 2012/13 season, he has been a permanent member of the ensemble of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, where he has sung roles such as Sarastro (“Die Zauberflöte”), Colline (“La Bohème”), Komtur (“Don Giovanni”), Pistola (“Falstaff”), Sparafucile (“Rigoletto”), Altgesell (“Jenůfa”) and Ashby (“La fanciulla del West”).
