Bettina Gfeller

Bettina Gfeller studied German language and literature, psychology and law in Basel, before turning to singing, completing first a Bachelor’s degree at the Zurich University of the Arts and then a Master’s degree in opera singing at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin. Whilst still a student, she made her debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in the world premiere of the political opera *Neue Szenen* as Anna Politkovskaya.

Her highly acclaimed performance of Arnold Schoenberg’s *Orchesterlieder* Op. 8 with the ECHO Ensemble was recorded by Deutschlandradio Kultur. Bettina Gfeller maintains a wide-ranging concert and lieder repertoire and was a long-standing member of the international improvisation company. She gained significant musical inspiration from international masterclasses with Dame Felicity Lott, Angela Denoke and Juliane Banse, and through her collaboration with Jakob Lehmann, Manuel Nawri and Gérard Wyss.

In 2022, she completed a CAS in Music Education at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Music, and has been Head of Music Education at the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra since 2024.
