Whether in Mozart or Rossini, bel canto or Russian romanticism, Johann Strauss or Franz Lehár – Olga Peretyatko feels at home in all musical styles and epochs. These are actually ideal prerequisites for an operatic diva, but it is precisely this attribute that she dislikes. “I am a singer and I try to give my best. What people call me is not my business, but I am not a diva because that is an old-fashioned word with negative implications.” Instead, she sees herself as a modern singer who is entirely open to provocative staging. Either way, on stage she is bursting with temperament and always overwhelms listeners with her subtle skills of interpretation.
